Since AGN-NA was originally formed by three small accounting firms, the association structure mirrored that of its founders, i.e. "committees" were formed to work on specific projects (CPE programs, Audit, Tax, Marketing and Computer Advisory Services, etc.). In the 1990s, when CPAs became "knowledge workers", committees became anachronistic; hence, "sharegroups" were created out of the old committees. Members are much more interested in sharing information around client service and practice management challenges; innovation/new products/better knowledge naturally occurs as a result. Member-to-member communication and interaction
was enabled and greatly boosted as a result of new technology platforms.
Today, members can access their colleagues in other firms instantly to seek advice/assistance on any issue via the e-mail lists. These sharegroup e-mails are archived and searchable in members-only sections of this website so that new members may benefit from the knowledge shared by firms over the years in a multitude of topics.
The most active sharegroups are:
- Audit & Accounting
- Business Valuations/Litigation Support
- Canadian Tax
- Employee Benefit Plan Audits
- Human Resources
- Information Technology
- Small Business / Family Office / Outsourced Accounting Services
- State & Local Tax
And new sharegroups or focus groups may be easily formed whenever a group of members want to collaborate on a new service or challenge.
Wouldn't your team benefit from having this many individuals to bounce challenges and ideas off of related to any topic associated with accounting firm client services and growth strategies? "Participation = Value"
