AGN's French member firm, Orial SA, based in Lyon, has recruited a British accountant to support its International Department. Ross Mitchell started working in an accounting practice in the Liverpool Street area of London in 2002 (following his graduation from St. Andrew's University) and did audit and accounts preparation assignments. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 2005. In 2007 he left that practice to join another practice in the St. Paul's area of London. His role in the second firm entailed doing financial accounts with no audit, management accounts, VAT returns, some UK payroll, and FCA returns. He stayed there for eight years until September 2015.
Ross' French wife wanted to return to her home country, and for one year Ross traveled back and forth from London to Lyon. Eventually he decided to remain in Lyon permanently.
At Orial, Ross will be mainly doing year end accounts work for international clients and some VAT work and audit work as well. At the moment he is also doing some bookkeeping tasks to integrate into the French accounts as it is very different to UK accounts. He is making good progress and also studying the tax rules in his spare time.
