The annual general meeting of the Region was held last May 18-20 in Montevideo, with 15 partners of 7 regional member firms in attendance.

Partners of Fernán-dez Zeledon & Asociados, from Costa Rica were invited and attended while the admission is in process.

Relevant point of discussion has been the quality control in the firms. The Auditing & Quality Control Committee will prepare the cyclical peer reviews programs and take in charge the cyclical peer reviews.

A common auditing procedures manual, in accordance with international and AGN Guides, will be prepared in the current year.

A discussion of cooperation between regional firms has been developed, with good procedures approved. Currently, the Region has member firms in 15 countries. We are working for the incorporation of member firms in Panama and Dominican Republic.

The regional executive committee is examining the way for incorporating a non profit company or foundation, in order to establish a legal entity for the Region.

João Verner Juenemann, senior partner of AGN Juenemann Auditores E Consultores, as been re-elected for a two-year period as a member of the the board of directors and audit committee member of Banco do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, S.A., the thirteenth largest Brazilian bank.

He was also re-elected as a member of the board of directors of the Brazilian Corporate Governance Institute (Instituto Brasileiro de Governança Corporativa), a non-for-profit association dedicated to the implementation of the best practices in corporate governance.
