January
1, 2006 marks the 10th anniversary of the foundation
of AGN International. Those
firms who founded the organization in 1996 have seen
a dramatic change not only in the size of the organization
(from 122 firms with US$458 million turnover to the
current level of 199 firms with just over US$1 billion
turnover), but also a considerably
enhanced level of professionalism within
it. The resources now made available to member firms
are substantial and will continue to be built up.
On
behalf of the International Board of Directors, I would
like to thank the members for
being part of this organization and contributing to its
success over the last ten years. The Board is continually
putting in place strategies to take our organization
into the future and bring even greater
benefits to the membership, and with members'
continuing help, the success levels achieved in the last
ten years will be surpassed with ease.

If you were among the
group of AGN members who toured China together last
September,
in advance of the Beijing World Congress, you know
what a rewarding experience
it was. Not only did we have the opportunity to see
China, we had an unprecedented opportunity to spend
time to
get to know each other better.
As
a result, there was unanimous agreement that, if
possible, future AGN World
Congresses should also include a pre-arranged opportunity
to tour the area around the
host city.
Our
Canadian members have obliged and arranged two great
opportunities to see important and beautiful
sites in Eastern Canada in advance of attending the Montreal
World Congress.
It
will be difficult, but you must choose between exploring
outside Montreal, seeing the countryside and having an
adventure, or sampling
a more city-life experience by exploring Toronto
and Montreal and venues
close to each, including Niagara Falls, a winery,
and, of course, shopping!
Both
tours meet in Québec City and stay overnight
at Le Château Frontenac. Visit www.agn.org
("Members > Private Home") for many
more details and to download the registration form. |

Deadline
to register is
May 30, 2006. Don't delay;
register early; space is limited
to 55 on each tour! |

In
order to improve the services supplied to member firms,
the International Board of Directors of
AGN approved supplying members with a new source of
technical information. The Daily
Tax News (DTN) is
an e-mail based product, which is
published by the International
Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD), a major
independent not-for-profit tax resource body based
in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The IBFD has been providing
many international tax products for almost 70 years.
The
Daily Tax News provides subscribers on a daily basis with
a summary and details of worldwide
taxation matters arising on an individual country
basis. As part of the subscription there is also the possibility
of searching historical archives on
the published technical material. The IBFD has
many other products available including access to a complete
database of international tax treaties. The full range
of their products and services can be accessed thru their website
on www.ibfd.com.
Members'
subscriptions to the DTN service are initially for a period
of one year. For more information,
or to unsubscribe from this service,
please contact the London office: lstone@agn.org.
