GENERAL NEWS:

Through the efforts of Schenck Business Solutions (Wisconsin, USA) a proposal for the worldwide service of their client (Oilgear) was successful.  AGN member firms in countries comprising Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, submitted tenders and the client has chosen AGN in competition over KPMG, BDO and Grant Thornton.  Most of the assurance engagements start from this year, but because in some cases of local regulatory requirements, the engagement will not begin until 2008 in some of the countries noted above.

AGN Joannides & Co (Cyprus) are pleased to announce, with effect from January 1, 2007, the audit firm of J.E. Papakyriacou & Co has joined their practice.  The firm of J.E. Papakyriacou & Co was founded in 1958 and is headed by Lakis Papakyriacou, BSc Econ, FCA.  The core services provided by the firm consist of audit work of local clients including the only race horse club in Cyprus.

AGN-V. Mercieca (Malta) has changed its name to AGN-Mercieca Ciantar Associates.  Since January 1, 2007 Mr. Simon Ciantar, B.Com MIA CPA, has joined Vincent Mercieca as a new partner.  Simon had his traineeship and audit practice working with both KPMG and Grant Thornton.
