JUNE 2015
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Greetings to All

We have now started the regional meetings' season of AGN's calendar year.

Malcolm and I attended a very successful North America (NA) regional meeting in Atlanta, Georgia along with approximately 180 delegates and companions. The NA regional meeting featured a diverse selection of management of accounting practice speakers along with in depth technical sessions that were extremely valuable to everyone in attendance. NA also introduced three (3) new member firms and two (2) additional potential member firms to all the attendees. A new feature to the NA meeting was a panel discussion between firm members in Canada and in Mexico with the managing partners of the US firms relative to cross border joint assignments that a multiple of member firms could potentially bid on and compete effectively for.

On May 31 and June 1 the joint regional meeting for West Asia/Africa (WAA) and Asia Pacific (AP) was held in Dubai. Following a pattern set at last year's joint regional meeting in Bali, Indonesia, the Dubai meeting was very successful by all standards in giving each region time to develop their own unique agendas, and at the same time, giving the attendees the ability to interact between two very closely connect regions of the world. Adel Habib was introduced formally as the new regional chairman for the WAA. We continue to offer Adel our congratulations and support of taking on this extremely important position.

On June 12 and 13 the European region held its regional meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark. Marlijn, along with the regional board, put together an excellent agenda for this meeting which was well attended and created a meaningful experience for all participants.

Finally, in mid-September the Central and South America (CSA) regional meeting will be held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Mireia, along with Alberto Adaminas, will have an excellent program for all in this very important region similar to the outstanding program they put together last year in Lima, Peru.

At each and every one of these regional meetings Malcolm and I have/will be there presenting a global update on AGN International and the progress that has been made to date in implementing our strategic plan of making AGN the global association of first choice by fulfilling our vision to make our members more valuable by enhancing their attractiveness and value to clients and providing valuable learning, tools and facilitations. We have and will discuss with the regions the tactics we are employing to bring this vision to a reality, namely by running an economically sound efficient association, by globalizing our current talent resources for the benefit of our entire association, by greatly enhancing our global communication and learning capability through a dynamic new website, by simplifying our current dues structure and making ti more effectively applied given the respective size of a member firm, and by rebranding our association to enhance its competitive image and embody our vision. It is indeed a very exciting time in AGN's history and Malcolm and I both welcome your active participation - it is your association.

Finally, we all have coming up in October the World Congress in Vancouver, BC. Vancouver is a stunning city, and for those who have not been there, you will want to make the World Congress your opportunity to visit this beautiful part of the world. The Congress will be rich in content with some tremendous keynote speakers and, similar to last year's Congress in India, meaningful technical sessions by our international tax committee (ITC) and international accounting and auditing committee (IAAC), along with business opportunities spotlighted by our international business development committee (IBDC). Most importantly, the global interaction of all our members at the World Congress is invaluable and should not be missed by any of our members. We are first and foremost an international association and this World Congress is the prime time to gain the advantage of our international reach.

To make sure that Malcolm and I are not overlooking an aspect of our association that you might feel is particularly important, please always feel free to email either of us and we will respond right away. Malcolm's email is mward@agn.org and my email is randy@redwitz.com.

Good success to all of you!

Randy

ANNOUNCING A NEW BRAND FOR AGN

It's been 19 years since AGN International was created by the merger of three like-minded associations into one -- followed by the merger with another association a few years' later. For member firms and staff which have been around since 1996 (and before), it's been quite a ride! AGN constantly thinks about how we reach and connect with our stakeholders, be they members, members' clients, staff, or business partners. Occasionally, an aggressive re-evaluation is needed and leads to re-branding in order to reflect more closely our growth, values and focus, and to align external and internal perceptions of the AGN brand.

With all this in mind, we have engaged the help of Source Design Limited based in Shrewsbury, UK who are known for their approach in using colour psychology to drive the branding process. This refreshing and insightful process has allowed your entire AGN team to focus on our own values, aims, and aspirations for the Association.

In considering congruence of what is valuable, differentiating, and authentic, three "pillars" have been identified:

excellent.    We uphold high standards of professionalism and service in all that we do.

connected.    We have strong relationships. We are linked and coordinated. We have a spirit of global collaboration directed to service client interest.

individual.    We are real people; 3-dimensional personalities. Trusted professionals you actually want to do business with.

This newsletter is a sneak peek of our new design (a work in progress) that's being launched in the coming weeks with a new responsive website, AGN brochure, and collateral materials. The new AGN logo incorporates all the colours that represent each of our five regions: Asia Pacific, Central & South America, Europe, North America, and West Asia and Africa.

Every professional branding strategy includes brand guidelines of identity and logo usage. Members must follow these guidelines to incorporate the new AGN logo into their own websites and collateral materials.
DOWNLOAD GUIDELINES HERE

We're very excited about the new brand identity and that it represents AGN as a professional organisation. We certainly hope that you like our new image, too!

Founder of Adel Habib & Co. Featured in Al-Rai Newspaper

The Al-Rai newspaper has published a collection of important photographs for sharing memories from Jordan's history. The newspaper released a historical throwback picture taken in 1968 showing her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein, the late Adel Habib and his wife, during the fifth graduation ceremony of the Maronite Charitable Society.

In 1963, Adel Habib established and sponsored the Maronite Charitable Society: a sewing center which offered women and young ladies, without discrimination of race and religion and have no or less access to education, the skills of embroidery which provided them with a career path to work themselves out of poverty.

More information about the Maronite Charitable Society can be found in the April 2014 issue of the firm's newsletter, The Effect. See that issue here.
