Technical Programme

Following through with the "Investing in the Asia Pacific Region" theme, information will be shared throughout this Programme about doing business in all countries in Asia Pacific, as it is likely you will have clients who are doing business in this region, or will be in the near future.

AGN members know that information sharing and business discussions aren't confined to the technical sessions and meeting rooms! Wonderful social events are always planned to keep the conversations going and start new ones, too. Our Programme officially kicks off on Sunday, 5 November with a City Tour, Lunch, and Thonburi Canal Tour.

Social Programme

The Programme officially kicks off on Sunday, 5 November with a City Tour, Lunch, and Thonburi Canal Tour. Then attend the annual Opening Welcome & Cocktail Reception beginning at 18:30 at the conference hotel (Intercontinental Bangkok).

SUNDAY, 5 NOVEMBER
10:30 - 16:30
City Tour: Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha with tour of the Thonburi Canal
Elegantly situated next to the Chao Phraya River are the fluted spires and golden domes of the Grand Palace. The beauty of the Palace grounds is matched by its stately buildings, including the Throne Hall, State Reception Hall and Coronation Hall, each richly decorated in its own style in a fabulous array of colours. In one corner of the Palace grounds is Wat Phra Keo, the Chapel of the Emerald Buddha, which houses the highly revered green image of Lord Buddha, whose history is shrouded in legend. The temple compound is packed with richly decorated pavilions, each one an outstanding example of Buddhist architecture.

Lunch will be served at Mango Tree on the River located on the Chao Phraya river, a hidden gem in the old city. This riverfront restaurant boasts an exquisite and non-congested view of Bangkok's most iconic scenery including a variety of historic landmarks such as Temple of Dawn. Mango Tree has served Thai dishes for over 20 years and the menu offers a wide variety of selections, from today's popular Thai dishes to traditional dishes from all regions.

After lunch, our tour continues on to the Thonburi Canal. Travel by express boat on the picturesque Chao Phraya River and adjoining canals (klongs) to see the serene family homes and temples lining the waterways that give this city the apt name “Venice of the East”. Meandering through areas of lush vegetation dotted with quaint old Buddhist temples, you will pass villagers in their boats laden with fresh vegetables, fruits, and flowers on their way to market.

18:30 - 22:00

Opening Welcome Cocktail Reception
As is customary at all AGN World Congresses, we will enjoy a lovely cocktail reception with much food and drink. Meet new members, reconnect with old friends, and engage in lively conversation and laughter. We will be treated to a Thai music ensemble during the reception.

MONDAY, 6 NOVEMBER
10:30 - 14:30
Companion's Tour: Jim Thompson House and Lunch at Nara Thai Cuisine (Erawan Branch)
Visit the private Thai-style house of Jim Thompson, the "father" of the famous Thai silk industry. The house now serves as a museum, on display in the main house is his splendid Asian art collection as well as his personal belongings. A stop is made at the Jim Thompson shop for a chance to purchase some inimitable Thai silk.

Lunch will be served at Nara Thai Cuisine, which is renowned for its boat noodles and authentic Thai dishes. Evoking a sense of culture as well as comfort, Nara combines the highest quality ingredients and age old recipes.

19:00 - 22:00
Thai Social Night: River of Kings Dinner Cruise
Cruise along Bangkok’s “River of Kings” on board the Chao Phraya Cruise that offers a romantic and leisurely evening of discovery of the ancient heart of the city. At night, popular riverside attractions are lit up, allowing boat passengers to savor the sights, sounds and incomparable scenery of the glittering Bangkok skyline whilst enjoying a delicious meal as the boat gently cruises upriver.

TUESDAY, 7 NOVEMBER

18:30 - 24:00

Gala Dinner - Black Tie/Tuxedo Event
Enjoy traditional Thai cuisine and show-stopping entertainment at Sala Rim Naam Restaurant. The restaurant offers a delicious choice of traditional Thai dishes including Long Poo Talay (sea crab meat cooked in coconut milk), Yaam Talay (spiced seafood salad) and Mussamun Nuea (southern styled beef curry with sweet potato and onion), to name just a few.

Housed in a richly decorated pavilion built in the traditional Northern Thai style, Sala Rim Naam is the setting for a unique cultural experience - a classic Thai dance show. Dances from the ancient Royal Courts of Sukhothai and Ayutthaya are performed in glorious costumes, along with folk dances celebrating the unique regional cultures of ancient Siam.
